Tim Nielson is the director of development and program facilitator at Three Peaks Recreational Outreach. This compact but energetic ministry is all about helping youth and young adults who have been underserved by society. Much of their ministry is carried out in nature, from local parks to the nearby mountain range near Vancouver, BC, building a sense of community with at-risk youth is their core value with a focus on as much one-on-one relationship as possible. So whether that is spending time in nature with someone from the inner city, or with a person who has addiction issues, Tim and Three Peaks Recreational Outreach very intentionally creates community. They believe in it, not just because it enables the changing of lives, but because it changes theirs too.
In this interview, Tim shares some of his motivations and stories.
